Natural health through herbs and nutrition is alternative health in medicine therapy. In fact, nutrition therapy treats, heals, and even prevents numerous health conditions from low blood sugar to cancer. We can let food be our best friend or our enemy. Which would you prefer? Let’s take a look at some foods that treat, heal, and prevent disease.
Alternative Health In Medicine Therapy: Eat More Fish
Did you know that eating lots of fish could improve breathing in asthmatics? The studies have been proven. Omega 3 fatty acids work to reduce inflammation.
Nutritionists are telling asthma patients to take fish oil supplements or eat more fish. Can you believe that something as simple as eating more fish could treat asthma symptoms? That’s nutritional therapy for you. Sardines, salmon, mackerel and tuna are all high in Omega 3’s.
Alternative Health In Medicine Therapy: Eat More Fiber
Eating lots of fiber rich foods significantly reduces the risk of colon cancer. Fiber foods are also good for the heart, diabetes and overall health. So why would someone not want to eat more fiber and improve their health?
The reason why many people are lacking in certain vitamins and fiber is because they have a busy lifestyle. They do not take the time to prepare and or cook nutritious fiber rich meals.
Eating more fruit for breakfast is an excellent way to start out the day and get your morning fiber. Making homemade fiber foods for the week using whole grains is also a great way to get your daily fiber.
Prepare a bunch of no bake energy bars, using oats, peanut butter, raisins nuts, seeds, and raw honey. Cut into bars and freeze them. Take them with you as snacks to eat when you are hungry. For an easy no bake energy bar recipe, see the source at the end of this article.
Other excellent fiber rich whole grain foods to eat are brown rice, oatmeal, and whole wheat. Brown rice crackers taste so good. They are a great way to eat crackers that won’t clog up our system like white flour crackers do.
Mix together two cups cooked brown rice, two cups whole-wheat flour, one-teaspoon salt, one-cup safflower oil, and enough water to make dough. Then press this mixture thinly into two cookie sheets and cut into cracker size squares. Bake for 15 minutes in a 350-degree oven. Watch carefully because the ones on the bottom shelf will burn easily.
Alternative Health In Medicine Therapy: Eat More Greens
When I mention greens, I do mean salad dark leafy greens, dark green vegetables, and sprouts, which when sprouted, may or may not be green. Eating more greens will give you many of the hard to get vitamins and minerals that our body needs.
Alfalfa sprouts are loaded with all the nutrition the body needs. Alfalfa sprouts are enriched with many life-giving nutrients! Sprouting alfalfa seeds is easy.
Soak two tablespoons alfalfa seeds in a mason jar over night. The next morning rinse seeds with a mesh strainer and cover jar with a mesh screen tied with a rubber band. Put jar on its side in the kitchen window where it can get sunlight (not direct sunlight).
Rinse the seeds in the morning and at night. Within three days you will have a jar full of alfalfa sprouts. Other good seeds for sprouting are wheat berries, sunflowers, and mung beans.
Alternative Health In Medicine Therapy: Eat More Fruit
Eating more fruit is a nutritionally sound way to get your vitamins. Juicing fruits and vegetables is a great way to feed the body. The best time to eat fruits is in the morning on an empty stomach and three to four hours after a meal. Good fruits and vegetables to juice are apples, pears, peaches, sweet potatoes, carrots, celery, and greens.
