Alternative Medicine For ADHD: Best Medication For ADHD

Natural Treatment For ADHD

Alternative medicine for ADHD will be found in this article. If you or a loved one have ADHD, becoming familiar with this disorder, and discovering the keys to good health may be the best move you will ever make.

ADHD is an often-misunderstood disorder that is caused from a nutritional deficiency. Alternative medicine for ADHD is found in the foods we eat and in naturally grown herbs.

Eating the right kinds of foods is a much safer way of gaining control over this particular disorder. Not taking prescribed medications that will cause more damage than good through taking it long term. Sometimes even short term.

Iron, Zinc, And Magnesium For ADHD

Numerous studies have shown that children who suffer from ADHD have low levels of iron, zinc, and magnesium. Alternative medicine for ADHD would be foods that provide adequate amounts of these minerals.

Ironically these three minerals, especially zinc and magnesium are in foods that most people don’t eat or only on occasion. So is it any wonder then, that our children would be deficient in these minerals?

Foods With Iron

Some of the more common foods that have iron are: clams, liver, canned sardines and shrimp, spinach, kale and collards, lentils, kidney, navy and lima beans, and chick peas.

Some of the lesser-known foods, which should be added to the diet of an ADHD person, are: blackstrap molasses, dried fruits, such as figs, prunes, dates and apricots, soy foods and nuts.

The American diet is devoid of most of these foods on a consistent basis. Beans and legumes should be eaten at least once or twice a week, while salad greens every single day. Canned fish should be eaten tow or three times a week to get the recommended amounts of iron.

Foods With Zinc

Oysters are loaded with zinc. But what kid is going to eat oysters? Other foods high in zinc, some being protein foods, are, beef shank, cooked crab, pork shoulder, roast chicken, baked beans and cashews. The most common foods with zinc are roast chicken and pork shoulder.

There are other foods with smaller amounts of zinc, but you would need to either eat a lot of them or eat them every day. Here is a partial list: Swiss cheese, almonds, chickpeas, chicken breasts, and kidney beans. I would definitely try and introduce oysters into your child’s diet if they have the symptoms of ADHD.

Foods High In Magnesium

Both halibut and tuna, broiled are excellent sources of magnesium are alternative medicine for ADHD people. Other foods that are high in magnesium are: pumpkin seeds, cooked spinach, oysters, black beans, okra, tofu, whole wheat bread, soy milk, scallops, blackstrap molasses, peanuts, and broccoli.

Now, pick out three foods from the magnesium list of food above that your child will eat. You can’t do it, can you? One of the problems with the American diet is kids have become pickier and pickier. Why is that? It is because parents are letting their kids get picky.

You Be The Food Boss

Don’t let your children tell you what they’re going to eat. You will be heading down a road towards all the symptoms of ADHD and other health issues, such as allergies and asthma, both of which are caused from a poor immune system in the first place.

When you look real hard at the mineral list above you will see that two of them, zinc and magnesium really are not in many of the foods you eat.

So then where is your child getting these very important minerals? Supplements? Most supplements are little cooked pills that really do not provide the body with adequate amounts of vitamins. They have been overly processed and other stuff added to them that are bad for your health.

Iron, zinc, and magnesium are the three main minerals that can become alternative medicine for ADHD children. The best way to receive those minerals is through eating an all-natural, organic, wholesome diet, period!
