Alternative Medicine For Cats: Cat Homeopathy And Remedies

Homeopathic Remedies For Cats

Cats may be finicky, but alternative medicine for cats will introduce them to some great tasting food that they will respond well to.

Remember, cats are also members of the family. When your cat is sick, he or she can be very temperamental such as we might be when we are sick. When your cat is healthy and well, he or she can be a very lovable addition to the family. Holistic medicine for cats ensures that your cat is getting everything he or she needs to stay healthy.

Let’s take a look at some treats your cat will love and a few alternative medicines your cat may need.

Alternative Medicine For Cats: Organ Meats

The kind of food your cat loves will most likely not be something that you love. Cats love gizzards, livers, and hearts. Unlike dogs, cats need meat to stay healthy and are veracious meat and fish eaters.

Feeding cats homemade food is a bit more difficult than for dogs. The reason being is cats need a certain amount of each vitamin that may be difficult for your cat to receive just from eating homemade cat food. Unless you know exactly what those vitamin requirements are.

Feeding cats homemade food in the long run can lead to disease. Cats need over 40 different vitamins in their diet.

The bottom line is, if you are knowledgeable about cat nutrition, then it would be a good idea to make homemade cat food. However, if you do not know that much about cat nutrition, do some reading about it before you take the next step of giving your cat home made foods.

In the mean time you can still give your cat home made treats once in awhile.

Alternative Medicine For Cats: Cat Treats

Cats are picky and making your cat homemade treats takes great care. A dog is happy with a slice of bread. Your cat may snub her nose at it. Here is a simple recipe for kitty treats.
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1-cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/3 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon olive or safflower oil
Mix together, knead into a ball and roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into bite size pieces and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes about 20 cat treats.

Alternative Medicine For Cats: Liver Cookies

Cat’s love liver and it is very good for them too. Ingredients for liver cookies:
  • ½ cup cooked chicken livers
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1¼ cup whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup cooked carrots, mashed
  • 1 tablespoon safflower or olive oil
Blend cooked liver with the water until pasty. In a bowl, combine flour and oil. Add liver mixture and carrots and knead dough into a ball. Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut into one-inch sized pieces. Place cookies on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 325 for 10 minutes. Makes 12 liver cookies.
