Alternative Medicine For Dogs: Cooking For Your Dog
Cooking For Dogs
There is an alternative medicine for dogs just like there is for humans. Our pets need good care and good food to live a long and happy life just like humans. If you want to give your pet the best, then many pet owners advise home cooked dog food rather than packaged dog foods from the store. When you make home cooked dog food for you dog, you know exactly what is going into the food. Packaged dog food can contain a number of different ingredients that won't be healthy for your dog to eat. Please see the source at the end of this article to learn more about what goes into packaged dog food. Let’s check into this theory some more.
Alternative Medicine For Dogs: Snack Biscuits
Dogs love it when they get a treat. A treat to a dog can be as simple as a slice of whole wheat bread. If you want to give your dog a nutritious high protein snack, then add some natural peanut butter to your whole wheat bread dough.
Roll out the dough to about ¼ of an inch, and cut into biscuits size treats, then bake.
Many sellers of dog treats and dog food are found online, but they cost an arm and a leg. So why not just make your own? Freezing these treats makes them last longer.
Alternative Medicine For Dogs: Whole Foods vs. Commercial Dog Food
Ironically, our dogs do better on a whole grain and vegetable diet than commercially prepared dog food diet. It’s ok to include some meats and legumes into your dogs diet as well.
Prepared store brand dog foods have a bunch of added junk in them that can make your pets sick with disease. See the source at the end of this article to find out more.
It’s ok to feed your dog the same foods you eat, if you eat a healthy whole foods diet. But if your own diet is high in animal fats, hydrogenated oils, and sugars, then that will not be better for your dog.
Your dog needs to eat healthy by getting whole foods, not packaged refined products. It would be better for your dog to eat commercially prepared dog foods over human packaged products.
Alternative Medicine For Dogs: Low Fat – High Protein Diet
Unlike cats, dogs do well on a proper vegetarian diet. Many vegetarians don’t eat right and they end up getting sick. Don’t let your dog get sick. Your dog needs a variety of grains, veggies, and good fats to keep him healthy.
Dogs do need protein, good fats, nuts and seeds, legumes, brown rice, millet, whole wheat and other whole grains.
All of these foods have a substantial amount of protein in them. Nuts, seeds, and lean meat will give your dog sufficient amounts of fat.
Dogs can eat meat. But I wouldn’t give your dog cooking grease, gravy, meat skins and other fatty parts of the meat. It is not good for your dog. Your dog does best on a low fat, high protein diet.
Would you eat the fat on a steak? Would you eat the skin on chicken? Then don’t give it to your dog. He or she may love it, but it is unhealthy.
Animals gain weight and get sick with disease just like humans. Don’t give your dog table scraps of meat that are unfit for human consumption.
Alternative Medicine For Dogs: No Junk Food Policy
Never give your dog food what is not natural. This is what causes disease in humans and also in our beloved pets. Unnatural food products are refined sugars, flours, and hydrogenated oils. This includes all packaged foods, even commercial dog foods.
Chocolate is poisonous to dogs. Our dogs will give us years of enjoyment and lots of love if we keep them healthy and happy with food that gives them vitality and energy.
