5 Alternative Medicine Guidelines

There are several important alternative medicine guidelines that you should follow for a healthier you. These guidelines are not only healthy but good on your pocket book too.

When we think of food as an alternative to medicine we can get focused on what our body really needs and begin living a healthier lifestyle.

Their is a wide selection of foods that you can eat for basically every condition under the sun. Truly, you can hear and watch about alternative medicines all the time through various programs on television. And if reading is more interesting to you, bookstores are full of books that contain valuable information in regards to this subject.

Guideline 1: Make Food Go To Work For You

However, don’t just read about how food can make you healthy, do what it says. Focus on solving your health issues through the foods that work best for your condition or circumstances. Take charge of your health through these alternative medicine guidelines.

It takes more than just eating a certain food once in a while; it must be a “way of life”. That means you need to break the bad eating habits and swap them for better ones, that’s all.

Guideline 2: Learn To Be Your Own Doctor

Naturopathic doctors have alternative medicine guidelines that they follow and use on their patients. The patient tells him or her what the health problem is and the naturopath doctor solves it through herbs and healthy foods.

By listening to your body and becoming aware of what your body is saying, you can solve most of your health issues yourself. You can be your own doctor and that means YOU are in charge of what you put into it. Whole foods and herbs can’t make you sick like pharmaceutical drugs can.

Guideline 3: Understand Herbs and Their Application To Health

I’m not a big advocate of taking vitamins and herbal supplements, but certain herbal supplements, oils, teas, and tinctures are excellent for healing certain health conditions. Ginkgo Biloba has been proven to be effective in treating mild to moderate cases of depression.

Taking this herb coupled with a whole foods diet is the cure for depression! Herbs and their applications should be a part of your alternative medicines guidelines program.

Guideline 4: Eliminate Refined Carbohydrates and Sugars

If you want to eat pies, pastries, donuts, cookies, and cakes, by all means go for it! Eat all you want, but use whole-wheat flour and a natural sugar, such as raw bees honey, maple syrup, date juice, or the herb Stevia.

Eating a whole foods diet doesn’t mean you can’t eat sweets. It means to not eat what is processed, refined, and soaked in hydrogenated oils.

Eliminating refined carbohydrates and sugars from your diet will save your health; even if you don’t follow any other alternative medicine guidelines, eating right will eliminate a host of health problems. You can’t have high cholesterol if you are eating only natural foods - it’s impossible.

You wouldn’t be overweight if you were eating only natural foods. Whole foods grown organically do not cause weight gain; what does is packaged foods that are loaded with other things that your body can’t assimilate properly!

Guideline 5: Cleansing the System For Illness

If you are sick with an illness that is doing your body physical and mental harm, then it is time to get rid of the toxins that are causing the disease. If you are serious about becoming healthy, cleansing is an absolute must.

Some people don’t cleanse, but only start eating better, and they only feel a little bit better. And that is because their digestive tract is still clogged.

Vitamins can’t get through a clogged system very well. Vitamins and minerals from the foods we eat must be able to pass through the digestive tract, and into the blood stream, where they go to work.

Using a colon cleanser is needed to receive optimal nutrition from the foods we eat. As you can see, alternative medicine guidelines are important to follow for optimal health.
