Alternative Medicine in Health Therapy
Rejuvenate your health with alternative medicine in health therapy! Many things can go wrong with our body. As we grow older we realize we need to take better care of our body physically and mentally. We can nip illness in the bud by staying moderately active, eating right, and taking time to enjoy life more. Mental fitness is the key to happiness and physical fitness is the key to bodily health. This becomes much more important as the body ages. However, it is still very important to live a life free of disease when the body is younger as well. Let’s explore some alternative therapies for health.
Alternative Medicine in Health Therapy: Exercise Therapy
I bet you never thought of exercise as therapy, but it certainly is. Exercise strengthens bones, muscles, arteries, and the whole vascular system. If we don’t get any physical activity our muscles would begin to atrophy, and we wouldn’t be able to walk.
This is why when we lead a sedentary lifestyle we begin to notice health problems, as well as weight gain. Light to moderate physical activity is very therapeutic for many health conditions, mental and physical.
Light to moderate exercise would be bringing your pulse rate up from 80 beats per minute to about 110 to 120 heartbeats per minute and keeping it there for thirty minutes.
By doing light to moderate exercise everyday, new auxiliary vessels will begin to grow, and new little arteries will begin to sprout, strengthening the vascular system. Swimming, biking, brisk walking, and calisthenics would be considered light to moderate exercise.
Alternative Medicine in Health Therapy: Breathing Therapy
Learning to breath by strengthening the diaphragm is excellent therapy for heart conditions, asthma, anxiety, panic disorders, emphysema, and other breathing issues. It is possible to re-oxygenate your body with what’s known as Diaphragmatic Panting.
Raise your arms just above the head, not too high, just enough to open up the rib cage, and breathe fast. Pant kind of like a dog. The only part of your body that should be moving is your diaphragm.
You will be able to see it move up and down. Do these breathing exercises every day to strengthen the diaphragm and rejuvenate the system with life-giving oxygen.
Alternative Medicine in Health Therapy: Soak Bath Therapy
Soak baths are very relaxing and calming for the whole body. The heat of the water expands the skin, opening up the pores, which draws out toxins. Add a combination of herbal teas to your bath water. Tinctured and liquid teas work great.
Or you may pour in some Epsom salts, or a cup of Aloe Vera. If you have a skin rash, add a cup or two of apple cider vinegar to the bath.
Soak bath therapy is good for:
- Releasing toxins
- Calming the nerves
- Asthma
- Anxiety
- Panic disorders
- Aching back and feet
- Chicken pox
- Shingles
- Chronic coughing
- Soothing rashes
- Soothing an enlarged prostate
Alternative Medicine in Health Therapy: Kitchen Therapy
Did you know that your kitchen could be a treasure chest full of herbs and spices that heal? For instance, garlic, onions, and carrots heal boils. Make a moist poultice from them and apply right on the boil.
Meat tenderizer is great for bee stings, clove is excellent for soothing sore gums or toothache, and ginger is a wonderful spice for treating sour stomach, indigestion, heartburn, food poisoning, and other intestinal upsets.
Look inside your kitchen cupboards and see what healthful healing aids you can discover.
