There is a lot of information written about alternative medicine nutrition health articles. In fact, there is so much material written on the web about nutrition and health it can be hard to make sense of it all. Nutritional and health experts agree on a lot of aspects on health, while some have their own ideas of staying healthy. Let’s take a look.
Alternative Medicine Nutrition Health Articles: Organic Is Best
Organic foods, without a doubt, are better for your health. All experts agree. Nutritionally speaking organic is the freshest and purest, therefore loaded with valuable, useable vitamins.
When buying organically you pay more for the freshest and cleanest product available. So make sure it is labeled organic. Either with a USDA stamp or with a sticker labeled with the state you bought the food in.
As most of us know, organic foods are void of chemicals and other toxic agents during the growing process. Inorganic means it was given pesticides, herbicides, hormones and antibiotics during the growth of the animal or plant.
This means when we eat these foods we receive residual amounts of these chemicals into our bodies. What we eat will catch up with us sooner or later.
Alternative Medicine Nutrition Health Articles: Fruits and Vegetables Diet
Most nutritional experts agree that eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in season is exceptionally good for our health. Choosing a variety of colorful fruits and veggies throughout the weekday ensures plenty of roughage and nutritional content.
An example of choosing multi colored produce for a week would be: yellow squash; green and red bell peppers; orange carrots; dark green leafy greens; purple cabbage; yellow peppers, green beans; yellow bananas; red, green, and yellow apples; green and purple grapes; and orange grapefruit. Are you hungry yet?
It’s always best to eat fruit raw and on an empty stomach. Vegetables when cooked should only be lightly steamed to retain vitamin content.
Alternative Medicine Nutrition Health Articles: Whole Grains
Here is where a bit of disagreement comes in. Some experts believe that a diet with less carbohydrates and more protein is better for your health. I think it all depends on what foods you are receiving your carbohydrates from.
The Atkins diet is all about eating lots of protein and skipping the carbohydrates. Many people say they do well on this diet because they are gluten intolerant, meaning they cannot assimilate starchy foods well.
But most of these people that seem to be gluten intolerant are not eating the whole grain product but something that has been refined and processed.
Could it be that what their body is rejecting is something that is void of vitamins and nutrition such as white flour products? A natural organic whole grain product is excellent for the body and should not cause any health issues.
All carbohydrate foods that are made with white flour have no food value to the body. Some of these more common foods are pizza crust, pasta, breads, cakes, crackers, pastries, donuts, cookies, and bagels.
Whole grain products do not harm the body because they give the body useable energy, which burns off. White refined flours clog the system and will eventually make us sick, no matter if you are gluten intolerant or not.
Once sickness arrives, our body begins to reject white flour carbohydrates. Gluten intolerance is simply the body rejecting something that is not natural.
It’s really all about eating a whole foods balanced diet. A good balanced diet consists of lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, a variety of whole grain products, beans and legumes, and some nuts, eggs, meat and dairy.
Alternative Medicine Nutrition Health Articles: Dairy Products
There’s lots of controversy about dairy products in the diet. Are they good for us? Are they fattening? Dairy foods such as butter, cheeses, milk and yogurt are ok for your health.
But too much of a good thing can be fattening and cause other health issues. Moderation is the key. Some experts believe that eating lots of dairy is great for your health, while others disagree. Whom can you believe?
Dairy products that you buy in the grocery store are pasteurized, which means they have been cooked and processed. If you take an apple and cook it into applesauce, will it be as good for you as the whole untouched apple or fermented apple for making cider? No, it will not.
The whole apple in its natural form is always the best for our health. It’s the same with any food product. Because of pasteurization, much of the wholesome vitamin content has been eradicated.
Cooked and processed dairy foods cause lots of mucous in the system. If you want to eat dairy products, the best are always what comes straight from the cow or goat – non pasteurized and pure. If it is non pasteurized and pure, by all means eat to your hearts content!
