Alternative Types of Medicine: Types Of Alternative Medicine

There are many different alternative types of medicine available to us. The natural approach to treat and cure illness is becoming increasingly more popular in America.

The fact is more and more health conscious individuals are realizing that our most common health conditions will go away through healthy eating. The common saying is that we are what we eat, which is very true. Give the body good nutrition through healthy foods including herbs and watch how the body can heal itself.

Once you accept this idea and avail yourself to this type of knowledge, life becomes very exciting when you realize that you don't always need to go to the doctor for this or that ailment. In time with proper nutrition, the body can usually heal itself.

Alternative Types of Medicine: Herbal Medicine

Herbs have been used for healing for centuries. Many pharmaceutical drugs are derived from plants. Aspirin for instance originated from the Willow Bark plant. Have a migraine headache? Have a cup of hot willow bark tea!

Drug companies start with the herb and then extract the “active” ingredients from it. Then they add numerous other synthetic compounds to the mix to make drugs.

Alternative health practitioners agree that the whole herb is more potent and therapeutic. Besides that, it is less likely to result in side effects. Most people that have turned to alternative medicine therapy know that drugs mask symptoms.

Herbs stimulate the immune system. This then works on the area of health that is ailing, which begins the healing process.

For the body to heal, it needs more than just herbs. The body needs essential nutrients to aid in the healing process. The body needs healthy foods, clean water and air, exercise, sufficient sleep, and natural healing agents such as herbs so the body can heal itself.

Alternative Types of Medicine: Healthy Eating Plans

Eating the right foods is an alternative type of medicine. Health problems of today are being traced back to nutritional deficiencies. These deficiencies can be remedied by going back to the natural, unprocessed way of eating.

Careful food shopping and enjoying your self in the kitchen is where proper nutrition starts. Eat more organic fruits and vegetables. Add more whole grain type foods to your diet for proper elimination.

Healthy eating does not have to be difficult, but it does take some planning. If you happen to work all day, then owning a crock-pot can be a Godsend. Have prep food like salad ingredients already washed and chopped the night before.

Plan ahead what you will need for five meal plans. Add it to the crock-pot before you leave for work. Let the crock-pot do the cooking for you!

Alternative Types of Medicine: Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese alternative remedy for many ailments that afflict us. In fact it is one of the oldest therapies in the world. Acupuncture can alleviate symptoms of asthma and many other health related conditions.

In a Chinese study published in 1989, 88.9% of asthma patients treated with acupuncture reported either a disappearance in asthma altogether or a relief of symptoms.

Acupuncture works on different stress points of the body. These certain points tell the health practitioner where to apply pressure to the body and that is where very tiny needles are inserted into the body.

Many people regard acupuncture as a miracle treatment for treating their health conditions. It has also been shown to alleviate nausea from chemotherapy.
