Avoid Sweets, Eat Fruit

by Ansh
(India)

It was one year ago when I developed stomach problems, and my visit to doctor confirmed that I was overweight. On the doctor's advice, I started exercising and reduced my junk food habits, but nothing changed for three months.

I was worried as well as puzzled why I was not able to reduce the extra pounds. It was then I realized I needed to read more on weight reduction and related items.

I browsed the net, downloaded free material, bought books, and took advice from some friends. After going through all the suggestions, I came to know that exercise alone does not help until it is coupled with a proper nutritional diet.

I immediately rushed through my food items one by one and could spot that I was eating a sweet dish daily and was not having any fruit. Starting the next day, I removed all sweet items from my daily menu, and introduced fresh fruit and juices.

To my surprise, I lost 7 Kg in just one month. Sugar items contain a lot of fat, and it is better to avoid them during a weight reduction period. When weight goals are achieved, it is okay to have sweets once in a while. Fruit should instead be eaten daily. The right nutrients are necessary for good health.

Hi Ansh,

I agree with you. While it is okay to eat something sweet every once in a while, eating too many too often can really be detrimental as you have shown. Some fruit is very sweet and exchanging fruit for sweets is an excellent idea. Not only is fruit nutritionally dense, but it also has far fewer calories.
