BMR Calculator: Basal Metabolic Rate Calculator
Calculate Basal Metaboic Rate
What is the bmr calculator used for? It measures the amount of energy you expend when you are resting. If you were to remain in bed all day without getting up for anything you might need to do, you will have a more accurate bmr measurement. This includes not using your digestive system, so you would have to fast for about twelve hours. You must remain completely at rest. As you get older, your bmr will naturally decrease. The less muscle tissue you have also ads to a lower bmr. Becoming more physically active will help to increase it. What does a bmr measurement tell you? It tells you how many calories you need to remain at your current body weight if all you did was just lay around all day. The more calories you consume, the more active your day will need to be in order to maintain your current body weight. The more we move around, ie. taking a shower, walking around the house, etc., the more calories we can consume to maintain our current weight. If you are interested in losing weight, simply eat fewer calories or increase your activity level during the day.
