Caffeine Effects on the Body: Negative Effects Of Caffeine

Some Facts About Caffeine

Surprisingly, caffeine in small amounts is not that bad for your health. Caffeine effects the body detrimentally when overdone. Moderate coffee drinkers should be happy about that.

Study after study has been done on modest coffee drinking, which is one to three cups in a twenty-four hour period. None have shown to have any ill effects on the body. But what happens when we over do it and drink too much caffeine-laden drinks?

If you let things get out of control, you may go from being a modest coffee drinker or modest drinker of other caffeine-laden drinks to becoming a heavy drinker of such drinks. This is anywhere from four or five cups of coffee, sodas or other drinks with caffeine a day to even more. Then some of the problems experienced by drinking too much caffeine will surely happen to you.

Sugar And Caffeine Effects on the Body

The minute we add sugar to our morning coffee we are adding a new chemical to the mix. Now we have two chemicals to contend with in our body.

I’ve often wondered, is it the caffeine in the coffee that so many people are after in the morning or is it the sugar we add to the coffee?

Starting our day out with caffeine and sugar only works for a few hours, and then our body comes back down. Now what? We grab another cup of coffee with sugar, or perhaps now we grab a coca cola to boost our energy levels.

Caffeine is addicting and so is sugar. Most people don’t realize that drinking caffeine-sweetened drinks throughout the day is very harmful to the body and mind. The body plays tricks on you and makes you think you need to have another caffeine boost.

Too much caffeine, especially with sugar can cause heart palpitations, nervous energy, agitation, symptoms of hypoglycemia, diabetes, hypertension and high blood pressure. Moderation is the key.

Soda Pop And Caffeine Effects on the Body

There are other substances that contain caffeine besides coffee. Soda drinks are one of them. Did you know that a can of soda has almost 8 teaspoons of sugar and about half the amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee?

Imagine an individual drinking four to six cans of cola in one day! That would be about 50 teaspoons of sugar and three cups of coffee.

Now do this experiment. Get your sugar bag out and measure into a bowl 50 teaspoons of sugar. What you see will be absolutely amazing.

This is so damaging to your health and causes all kinds of health issues from diabetes to obesity and from emotional issues to depression. The pancreas has a difficult time processing this much sugar in one day, which often results in sugar overload syndrome.

The person with sugar overload syndrome may experience withdrawals, be highly emotional, violent, suicidal, have a short memory span, is unable to focus, have attention problems, a racing heart rate, palpitations, get panicky, be anxious, have seizures, and more, all from too much sugar in the system! Isn’t it time you gave your pancreas a break?

Caffeine Effects Separate Areas of the Body Differently

Caffeine is a diuretic, therefore an individual who drinks coffee all day, or most of the day is prone to becoming dehydrated. This is not good for the organs, especially the liver and kidneys.

It is estimated that a 150-pound person should drink three quarts of water a day. Too much caffeine in the system causes constipation, which leads to toxic build up. Proper elimination is how the body rids itself of toxins.

Remember, moderation is the key. Anything over one to three cups of coffee in a twenty-four hour period is too much. Abstinence from soda pop is the best thing. Even one can of soda a day is bad for your health.

Caffeine effects on an individual are relative on how much they ingest on a daily basis. Even someone who only drinks one to two cups of coffee in a day will experience symptoms of withdrawal, if they discontinue its use. What does that tell you?

Always check with your doctor or other health practitioner because caffeine may interfere with medications you are taking, even if you’re only drinking one or two cups a day.
