Conventional medicine alternative conventional health is gaining more and more support, and for good reason. Alternative medicine works! And more people are discovering this fact everyday.
As far back as 1993 a report in the New England Journal of Medicine stated that annual visits to alternative practitioners surpassed that of conventional physicians. People are becoming more informed and wiser when it comes to their health.
Conventional Medicine Alternative Conventional Health: Herbs
Many of our conventional drugs originate from plants. For instance, leaves of the foxglove plant are used for making the heart medicine digitalis. And aspirin comes from parts of the willow bark plant.
Numerous reports have stated that drug poisonings kill hundreds of people yearly, but poisonings from herbs is almost unheard of.
To make conventional drugs the pharmaceutical companies start with the herb and extract. The “active ingredients” of the plant. Then they add other synthetic chemicals into the mix, which causes numerous side affects.
Holistic practitioners have always maintained that the whole herb is the most beneficial for treating, and less likely to cause side affects.
Conventional Medicine Alternative Conventional Health: Oriental Medicine
Holistic medicine practices with herbs and other alternative treatments have been with the Chinese for centuries. In fact many eastern regions of the world still practice Qi (pronounced chee).
This is total health balance within the body and its energy reserves. They believe the more out of balance the body is, the more symptoms or ailments a person will experience. This makes a lot of sense.
Another conventional medicine alternative conventional health practice derived from the orient is acupuncture. Acupuncture focuses on the mind, body, and spirit for optimal health and total balance within the whole body.
Chinese culture believes that piercing specific areas of the body with pins affects the flow of energy. Acupuncture is used with herbs, massage, and exercise to treat and heal many health conditions.
Conventional Medicine Alternative Conventional Health: Pure Water
One thing that many people fail to do is drink enough unadulterated water. Nutritionists have said that 80% of people are not getting enough water and are in fact dehydrated.
Could this be true? Well, I believe it is true. I have listened to my own body and it lets me know when I don’t drink enough water throughout the day. I feel headachy and dehydrated.
Almost 2/3rds of our body weight is water, which means it is important to get our daily water intake to keep the body running smoothly and feeling hydrated.
Drinking plenty of water throughout the day makes us urinate. Every time we urinate we rid ourselves of more toxins that have taken residence within our body. The more water we drink the more toxins we eliminate.
A good rule of thumb is don’t wait until your thirsty to drink pure, clean water. If you wait to drink water only when you’re thirsty, it means you are already dehydrated.
It is said the body needs at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. It wouldn’t hurt us to drink nine 8-ounce glasses of water every day. Drink water to your health!
