Eating A Healthy Balanced Diet: Good Diet Foods

Eating a healthy balanced diet starts with knowing what foods to include in your daily, healthy eating plans and what foods not to include. Balanced diet means to have balance in your meals through the foods you eat. Of course this will include only healthy foods.

Healthy portions of each of the food groups are a must for a healthy balance. Here are a few healthy tips to include in your healthy eating routine.

Eating A Healthy Balanced Diet: Breakfast

Breakfast is a very important start to your day. What you eat for breakfast will affect the rest of your day. Healthy eating plans for breakfast would include a piece of fruit, a bowl of oatmeal with raisins, and a piece of whole-wheat toast with a pat of real butter.

Or it might be a piece of fruit, a bowl of homemade granola cereal and a slice of whole-wheat toast with real peanut butter (no sugar added).

Eating a couple of boiled eggs with toast or a nut and dried fruit mix would be fine also a couple of times a week. But remember to always eat your fruit first, unless it is dried fruit. Also, let it digest for at least 15 to 20 minutes in your body before you eat anything else.

Breakfast should provide your body with fiber, vitamins, and balance for energy throughout the day. Eating heavy foods such as white-flour pancakes, waffles, French toast loaded with butter and syrup, and bacon on the side is too much fat. It is also very constipating.

These foods will weigh you down and make you feel sluggish throughout the day.

Eating A Healthy Balanced Diet: Lunch

Many of us who are watching our weight choose weight watchers recipes for lunch such as soups, salads, and veggie sandwiches. All three of these choices are good for lunch. Here are some things to remember. If you decide on the soup, you should still make room for a raw vegetable somewhere in the meal.

Eating a smaller side salad with the soup would be a good idea. Or eating a piece of fruit fifteen minutes before lunch would also give you the raw food serving. Remember that in a balanced diet, eating five servings of raw food is highly recommended. So be sure to fit these raw food servings in at each meal.

The next tip is if you choose the salad at lunch, make sure it is dark leafy greens. Most restaurants only use iceberg lettuce, which has minimal nutritional value.

So if you opt for eating salads every day at lunch, you may not be getting the vitamins and minerals you think you are. The best choice for dressing is olive oil and vinegar. Bring your own if the restaurant does not have olive oil.

Eating A Healthy Balanced Diet: Dinner

Even if you feel healthy now, you should still choose healing foods for your diet plans to prevent sickness. Healing foods are those that provide the body with the greatest amount of nutrition or antioxidants.

A typical lunch or dinner in America is usually more meat and potatoes than anything else. And many people in this country are overweight and sick.

You can train your palate to go for the veggies first. Eating healthy portions for adults are 70 percent of the meal being vegetables and the rest meat or a whole grain, but never the other way around. For growing children and teenagers healthy portions are 50 percent vegetables, and the rest meat, dairy, or a whole grain.

Fish should be included in your health diet plans three times a week. Never overcook your vegetables. Salads should be dark greens. Eat five small meals a day and include a raw food at each meal. Always take healthy portions. Eat slowly and enjoy your meals.
