Fasting is also advisable for those people who are ill with a disease or who can’t shake a prolonged illness. There are different types of fasting that will be explored in this article.

Fasting is something that is often misunderstood. It does not mean starving yourself to death. It means giving your body a rest from working so hard. Digestion involves a lot of work, especially if you aren’t always eating foods that are good for the body. A healthy person can go on a fasting diet without food for up to a month!
You should always drink lots of water while fasting because it helps to release toxins from the body. Many healthy folks fast once a year to maintain good health.
There are ten-day fasts, two-week fasts, and then there are three-day mini fasts. Once a month, Twenty-four fasts also give the digestive system a break.
If you have a lot of toxic buildup, you may experience several days of general malaise while fasting. During this time, your body is going through a toxic shock as it tries to eliminate wastes from it.
Symptoms may be excess mucous, bad breath, body odor, runny nose, headache, and general body aches. Don’t become alarmed and start eating again. This only lasts a few days, depending on the fast.
Effects of Fasting
Liquid fasting is the preferred method for anyone who wants to abstain from food for more than ten-days. Juices and clear vegetable broths provide the body with nutrients and energy while cleaning out the system.
Every hour have a six-ounce glass of water and every two hours drink a 6-ounce glass of fresh fruit or vegetable juice. Clear soup broths may be taken as well.
Juice fasting gives your body all the nourishment it needs as your body rests from solid foods. You will feel great while doing a juice fast and also lose some weight.
Fasting cleans up the body so you will not crave sweets and junk food when the fast is over. This makes it much easier to get on a good healthy diet and maintain healthy weight.
For those folks who are on a work schedule, a ten-day fast may not be the ideal choice. A good fast for working folks is the three-day lemon juice fast. This fasting diet is easy and involves only lemons or limes.
While on this mini fast, drink a tall glass of water with a squeeze of lemon or lime every hour. The citrus will give you nutrients and energy. This mini fast is great for those people who are quite healthy to begin with.
Advice on Fasting
It is advisable to do a salt-water flush each morning while on a fasting diet because it helps to move the bowels and get toxins out of the body fast! A salt-water flush is done first thing upon rising.
Drink an eight-ounce glass of water with a teaspoon of sea salt and drink it down. Within fifteen minutes you will begin the elimination process.
Young children usually do not need to fast unless they are sick, and then it is advisable to give them lots of fresh fruit juices and clear broths. A child should not fast on water only.
Older people should not fast on just water either. Always be sure they are provided with lots of fresh juices as this will still heal the body, but without the feeling of hunger.
When breaking a fast, always start out with vegetable juices for a day if these weren‘t part of the fast. Then you can eat bland foods such as applesauce, rice, and dry toast for the next twenty-four hours. Whole fruits and vegetables can also be given. Finally, you can resume a regular diet with more solid foods.
