Free Diet Plans: The Essentials

There are many free diet plans you can find on the internet. Some may even be found in books or magazines. The problem with most of them is that they are presented in such a way that you usually don’t or can’t stick to them for a long period of time.

So what ends up happening is you jump from one diet to the next. Often times you may feel guilty for not following through with your commitment. Eventually you may just give up on dieting and revert back to your old ways of eating. The results of which prompted you to start a diet in the first place.

Psychological factors play a large role when you are using a diet plan. If your mind isn’t in the right place, you will fail in your new diet.

Diets and Health

Most people look for diet plans in order to lose weight. Some do it for other reasons such as to increase their energy or to help get over a particular illness.

However, most free diet plans are not cut out to give you your desired end result. Most will be too hard to stick with unless you are very motivated, or very unhealthy for long-term use.

When choosing which free diet plan to use, look first at the impact it will have on your health. Some diets are so extreme they are detrimental to your health.

I was watching a program on an exercise channel on television yesterday. It showed how a 476 pound man lost 276 pounds in a year. To do this, he decided to go on a protein drink diet. He lost the weight, but you can only get so many nutrients from liquid protein. This is definitely not the ideal diet to go on.

Goals and Exercising

Always remember the basics when looking for free diet plans. Make realistic goals. Make some short term and some long term goals. Use some kind of a spreadsheet or journal to keep track of your daily, weekly, and monthly achievements.

You want to be able to measure your achievements and progress while at the same time still having something to shoot for. This will help get and keep you motivated while you are dieting. Understand that reaching each specific goal will take a specific amount of time. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Include exercise. Exercising while you diet will help you reach your goals sooner. If you are trying to lose weight, which I believe is the number one goal people have for dieting, exercising will help you to retain your lean body mass. The weight you lose will then mostly be from fat.

Exercising will also help you burn more calories. Burning more calories (from regular bodily functions, normal daily activities, and exercising) than you are consuming will help you in losing weight faster.

Choosing the Right Foods

The most important point to keep in mind when choosing free diet plans is the type of food you will be eating. Organic foods are the best. If your diet plans should always include eating fresh fruits and vegetables.

These are low in calories, but high in nutrients. Also eat whole grain foods instead of processed grains. These will keep you satiated for a longer period of time. If meat is involved, choose lean meats instead of red meat. These have less fat content. Finally, restrict added fats and sugars.

Discipline yourself, keep your eyes on your goals, exercise, and eat healthy foods when engaging in free diet plans. Remember, organic food is always better than other conventional food.
