Having done a thorough investigation due to haveing severe joint pains, I was diagnosed with having high serum uric acid levels in the blood. So I was advised for some lifestyle and diet modifications. I am mentioning a few that I follow:
Lifestyle modifications:
1. Daily Brisk walking for 20 mins.
2. Drink plenty of water.
3. Avoid overeating and heavy meals at night.
4. Regular and sound sleep every night.
5. Avoid exercise after meals.
6. Stop smoking.
7. Proper control of hypertension and diabetes.
Diet modifications:
1. Eat lots of green vegetables and plenty of fresh raw fruits.
2. Sprouts in form of chana, moong, etc.
3. Small fish and chicken.
4. Chapati from whole wheat flour.
5. Boiled vegetables.
6. Avoid fried and oily foods.
7. Avoid carbonated and alcoholic beverages.
8. Avoid instant commercial foods.
9. Cakes, biscuits, pastries, icecreams to be taken in moderation.
10. Drink lots of clear soup, plain tea without cream.
11. Avoid eating spinach, tomato, peas and daal.
After following this routine rigorously for a few months, my uric acid level has decreased drastically and joint pains have gone. I would advise people having gout to follow this diet.
My sincere advice would be to have fresh fruits on an empty stomach as the absorption and digestion is better. You can also have a fruit day once a week. You can eat on all types of fruit on this day.
