How To Administer The Herbs
Ok, so you want to grow your own herbs. There is a lot more to growing medicinal herbs than meets the eye. Have you thought about how you will administer those herbs to your health?
One way to administer herbs when ill is to use various parts of the herb such as the leaves in a tea. Simply snip off how much you will need according to how much tea you are going to need and make an infusion. About a tablespoon of fresh herb makes a 4-ounce cup of tea.
The essence of the herb will be extracted from the leaves when you pour hot water over it. Let the tea steep for ten to twenty minutes, covered. Never boil your tea water. Strain off the herb, or remove the tea ball or bag and enjoy your tea.
Tea fasting can be beneficial in ill patients. Fasting using fresh herbal teas with lemon can be the biggest healer for your body. It is an excellent way to eliminate toxins from the body and restore the body back to health.
Additionally, with fresh herbs you can make a poultice to apply topically. Make a poultice by chopping or grating the herb or spice very fine. Now create a paste with the chopped herbs using water, vegetable oil, olive oil, or wheat germ oil.
Apply the poultice to the affected area. The poultice can be applied directly on the injured area or you can place the paste inside a flannel or linen cloth and place it on the affected area.
Topical poultices are great for skin boils, bites, rashes, and infections. There are many other ways you can administer your homegrown herbs. Tinctures and extracts take a bit more effort and time but they are also popular among naturopaths.
