Healthy Diet Eating: Healthy Diet Meal Plan
Healthy diet eating is going to be a balanced diet, which consists of each of the food groups in the right portions. A balanced diet is not eating equal portions of each food group, because that would be bad for your health.
For a healthy eating diet, the foods you eat should work in harmony with each other.
Healthy Diet Eating: Whole Grains
The biggest portion of food an individual should eat, according to the food pyramid is complex carbohydrates, which are the breads, cereals and rice group. Remember that choosing whole grains over the refined breads and cereals is going to make a big difference on your health.
Whole grains are much better on the digestive system and overall health than refined breads and rice. The food pyramid recommends that a person eat six to eleven servings of whole grains each day.
If that seems like a lot of servings, it really isn’t when you take into account that it is also recommended to eat five to six smaller meals each day rather than one or two.
Healthy Diet Eating: Vegetables and Fruits
Vegetables and fruits are most nutritious when eaten raw or just lightly steamed. Include an array of fruits and veggies into your diet to ensure that you’re receiving a balanced diet.
Fruits and vegetables contain a vast amount of vitamins and minerals that our body needs each day. Six to seven servings of fruits and or vegetables in a twenty-four hour period is recommended for good health.
Healthy Diet: Meat and Dairy
First off let me say that vegetarians can have a healthy balanced diet just as easy or easier than a meat eater. Beans and legumes are far better for the body than many animal foods.
As far as protein goes, beans also pack a good wallop of protein. If the vegetarian eats a balanced diet, he or she is almost always healthier than the meat eater.
Both meat and dairy are high in fat. So if you are trying to lose weight or lower cholesterol, these foods are not the best choice.
Pasteurized dairy causes the body to have high levels of mucous and should not be consumed in large quantities. You should always opt for the leaner cuts of meat and eat more fresh fish and turkey.
You only need about two servings of meat and dairy in a day, which can be too much if the rest of your diet is not balanced. As far as calcium goes, there are far better foods than coked dairy products for receiving this valuable mineral.
Try kale, almonds, chicory, sesame seeds, sweet potatoes and broccoli for your calcium needs. This is just to name a few that have high amounts of calcium.
Healthy Diet Eating: Fats, Oils and Sweets
Refined sugar foods should not be consumed on a regular basis. Homemade sweets can be made using raw honey, maple syrup, date juice, and other natural sugar sources. There are hundreds of recipes online that will satisfy the sweet tooth while only use natural ingredients.
Fats from unsaturated sources such as fish, avocados, nuts and seeds, and extra virgin olive oil are needed in the daily diet for good health. Saturated oils from animal meats and refined food products should be avoided as much as possible. These kinds of fats are what makes us fat and clogs the arteries.
