Healthy eating for kids can sometimes be a challenge. We don’t always know what they are eating when they are away from home. But when they come home from school we can make sure they are eating healthy. One way to know for sure that your kids are eating healthy while they are at home is to only have healthy foods in the cupboards and refrigerator. This will help nurture healthy eating kids.
Healthy Eating For Kids Is A Lifestyle
Some kids come home from school every day and munch out on soda pop, potato chips, pop tarts and hot pockets in front of the computer. These dead foods will not keep them healthy. And then some kids come home from school and eat a piece of fruit with real fruit juice and a couple slices of whole grain toast with peanut butter and some granola with milk. Which kid do you think is the healthiest? Which kid is yours? Do you see how eating healthy is a lifestyle? If parents want their kids to have a healthy eating lifestyle, then they need to throw out the processed foods that are dead foods and bring in some food that are alive, such as fruit and real juice. There are many healthy foods for kids to eat that you can have at home. You can’t have both in the home because the kid will always choose the unhealthy food over the healthy food. They are just kids – they don’t care about their health as much as you do.
Healthy Eating For Kids Is Important
Eating healthy for kids is important for many reasons. The most important reason is health of course. But the next best reason is it instills good eating habits in them while they are still young. Parents teach their toddler when they are only two and three years old how to brush their teeth, wash their face, and brush their hair. Why do parents teach children these things at such a young age? It teaches them the importance of hygiene. It engraves within the child’s character to take the measures to be clean. No parent wants to raise dirty, rotten teethed kids.
But what about the inside of the child, what does it look like? Kids don’t know the difference between drinking a can of soda or a glass of pure apple juice. They don’t understand the consequences of drinking soda all the time. They think if it’s in the refrigerator it must be good for them. Mom or dad wouldn’t put anything in the refrigerator that is bad for their health. The kid trusts his parents – they know best, right? Or do they? Parents must teach their kids at a young age about the value of health and the consequences of not eating right when they are young. Parents should teach the importance of food on health and make healthy eating a lifestyle in the home. They should start cooking healthy meals for kids while they are very young.
Healthy Eating For Kids And Grandkids
So maybe you don’t have any kids living at home anymore. Now you’re a proud grandparent to a rambunctious toddler. Grandparents like to pamper their grandkids with sweet treats. But you can make homemade sweet treats when they come to visit. How about real fruit juice pop sickles.
Or you can make homemade black strap molasses candy. These candies are good for you, if you find the right recipe.
Or perhaps they would like homemade honey granola with a glass of milk. You see! Healthy food can be tasty too. We all just need to get a bit more imaginative and creative in the kitchen.
