Healthy Food Recipes For Kids: Kid Friendly Dinner Recipes

Fun Foods For Kids

Do you know of any healthy food recipes for kids? We all know how kids love to eat, but sometimes the foods they eat aren’t always as healthy as we would like.

It’s up to parents to make healthy food choices for their children so they will be healthy and maintain healthy weight.

Healthy Food Recipes For Kids: Salmon Patties

Fish is one of the healthiest foods for growing children. Fish is packed with valuable nutrition that children need for healthy teeth, gums, and strong bones.

But how do we get our kids to eat fish? Some kids stick their noses up at fish and won’t touch it. Try this recipe and see if they like it. These salmon patties are some very healthy eating.

Ingredients For Salmon Patties:

  • 1 can pink salmon
  • 1 small onion diced
  • ½ bell pepper, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Handful of parsley, chopped
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup quick oats
  • 1 egg
  • 1-tablespoon liquid aminos or soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon each of pepper and salt
Add salmon and its liquid, bones and all into a mixing bowl. Mix the salmon well. Add all of the rest of the ingredients and mix together until you can form the mixture into patties. Make into 8 patties.

Fry patties in safflower oil or bake in the oven for ½ hour on 350 degrees. Eat on hamburger buns with your favorite condiments. This is a lot healthier than a hamburger.

More Healthy Food Recipes For Kids: Homemade Mac & Cheese

This is better for your children than the boxed macaroni and cheese. If you have a fat child, you may not want to make homemade macaroni and cheese. You might want to make macaroni and tuna or chicken instead. I will give you both versions and you decide.

Ingredients For Mac & Cheese:

  • 12 – oz whole grain macaroni or seashells, rigatoni, small penne, etc
  • 1/2-cup milk or soy milk
  • ½ cup real butter
  • 2 tablespoons whole-wheat flour
  • 1-cup white cheddar (no orange dyes. Real cheddar cheese is white and tastes better too.)
  • 1-teaspoon salt
Cook the pasta according to package directions. In a pan, melt the butter and add the flour, then slowly pour the milk in until it begins to thicken. Turn off heat. Add the cheese and salt and pepper. Pour over the pasta. Serves two to three people. Serve with steamed broccoli or green salad on the side.

Macaroni and Tuna or Chicken Ingredients:

  • 12 – oz whole grain macaroni or seashells, rigatoni, small penne, etc
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1-cup cooked chicken, diced or 1 can of tuna
  • ¼ cup milk or soymilk
  • ½ cup romano cheese
  • 1-teaspoon basil
  • 1-teaspoon sea salt
Cook pasta according to package directions. In a pan, sauté the garlic for one minute on medium heat. Add the onion and tomato and cook for five minutes, stirring frequently. Add the chicken, milk, and cheese and stir well. Add the basil and sea salt. Pour over the pasta and enjoy.

There are lots of healthy food recipes for kids to enjoy. It just takes a bit of creativity and fun in the kitchen. Have your kids be a part of the cooking in whatever capacity you feel they can handle. Kids eating healthy doesn’t have to be difficult when you start them out when they are young eating healthy foods.

If your children regularly eat fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans and fish, then they should love many of the recipes you decide to make using these healthful foods.
