Healthy Food Recipes: Cooking With Whole Grains
Substitutions For Recipes For Healthy Food
There are hundreds of healthy food recipes online and in cookbooks using whole foods. Some of the food recipes appear to be healthy because they use what is known as healthy food substitutes.
However, many of these well-known food substitutes such as margarine, fake sugars, and low fat foods are not healthy and should not be used in your recipes.
Healthy Food Recipes Using Healthy Substitutes
Healthy eating is using whole and natural substitutes in your recipes. Olive, safflower, flaxseed, or coconut oil can be used in place of butter. Two percent milk can be used in place of whole milk and creams. Homemade chicken or vegetable broth can be used in place of canned soups and bouillon cubes.
Turnips, parsnips, and other root vegetables can be used in place of starchy potatoes, especially if you are trying to lose weight, or properly combine your food groups. Ground turkey or chicken can be used in place of hamburger in all recipes that call for ground meat.
The Internet has some wonderful, tasty recipes that can be easily prepared using simple natural foods such as brown rice and millet. Many of the foods used in the online diets may not be as healthy as you would think.
Read all labels and be sure to make healthy substitutes. Brown rice and millet both go well with all varieties of vegetables and can be made to taste different depending on the vegetables you use.

An important healthy eating guideline is to properly combine your food groups. Healthy digestion occurs when proteins and starches are eaten alone rather together at a meal.
When meats and starches are eaten together at a meal, they cause many of the symptoms that are associated with irritable bowel syndrome. It is also a good idea to eat five smaller meals rather than two or three large meals.
Organic foods should be used as often as possible in your cooking. This will ensure the freshest, healthiest foods for your body.
Organic food products will always be labeled organic with the state or country they were grown in. Farmer’s Markets are a great place to get your organically grown fruits and vegetables in your area.
