What Foods Are Healthy?
Healthy foods are without a doubt becoming one of the major headlines in America today. Not only in this country, but in a few others as well.
Health food stores abound in virtually every city. These stores do not only sell vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other various concoctions to return you to health, but they also have their own section of health foods. Some of the foods you will find are healthy breakfast foods, healthy protein foods, and even healthy nutritious snack foods.
Not only do health food stores provide these foods, but other common grocery stores now have their own health food isles as well, such as Safeway, Raley’s and Albertson’s.
Two specific grocery chains are known for having healthy foods throughout their stores. These two grocery stores are Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. As can be seen, this type of food is big business.
Healthy Foods Equal Quality
There is ample proof that these foods can improve one’s quality of life. The range of benefits can be from foods for healthy hair to farm raised salmon for a healthier heart. More specifically, organic healthy foods are the foods most forth coming in producing a healthy lifestyle as far as food is concerned.
Healthy Foods are Non-Toxic
Organic foods are king of all foods that are healthy for you. The reason for this is that these foods are certified to not contain the same type of harmful toxins that are on regular foods.
These harmful toxins can be any one of the following:
- Pesticides
- Artificial Fertilizers
- Antibiotics
- Growth Hormones
- Radiation
- Genetically Modified Foods
- Food Additives
- Food Colorings
- Artificial Sweeteners
Antioxidants and Free Radicals
In addition, organic foods are said to contain more antioxidants. Antioxidants help us live healthier lives. Any time our bodies experience metabolism, free radicals are produced.
In order for something to metabolize, oxygen is used. Oxygen molecules come in pairs. Whenever it is used in metabolism the oxygen molecule splits into two. The pair separates. Thus, free radicals are born.
Free radicals basically destroy tissue cells. Antioxidants help stop the formation of these free radicals or if already formed, they stop them from harming you.
This is a huge plus for purchasing organic healthy foods. It is believed by many professionals in the health and science arenas that free radicals are the precursors to cancer.
Because free radicals can basically develop during any kind of energy expenditure, it is a good idea to maintain a constant supply of antioxidants in our bodies by continually eating health foods, namely organic healthy choice foods.
Organic Foods
Organic foods also contain higher levels of certain vitamins and minerals. This fact is often debated amongst certain scientists and researchers.
However with the lower levels of non-natural inputs such as those listed above, these foods are already better for you even if they do not offer greater nutritional value. I’m of the opinion they do.
Hands down, organic foods are the best health foods a person can consume. Not only are they healthier for you but they are tastier as well.
Some fruits and vegetables have lost their flavor because they are genetically modified. This is something you won’t have to worry about when buying organic foods.
