Healthy Snacks For Children:Kids Healthy Snacks, Preschool Snacks

Easy Snacks For Kids

There are many healthy snacks for children. Fruits and vegetables should be at the top of your grocery list for kids. They are handy. They don’t have to be cooked and they are rich in nutrients.

These can actually turn out to be good healthy meals for kids depending on how much they eat.

Nuts And Dried Fruit

healthy snacks for children are eaten Nuts are a good choice for older kids. But, you should buy the unsalted versions and remember that peanuts are not actually nuts. They are legumes. Many people are allergic to peanuts and other legumes, but not to walnuts or cashews.

Dried fruit like raisins are much healthier than candy and just as sweet. You will find dried cranberries, banana chips, shredded coconut and my personal favorite dried pineapple at most grocery stores.

The challenge for many parents is to find foods that their kids will eat. Smart parents start giving nutritious snacks for kids from the beginning. They start giving their kids lots of different fruits, vegetables and other healthy choices instead of getting them hooked on junk. These are great snacks for toddlers to get their taste buds trained on good foods.

Packaged Snacks

apples are kids healthy snacks When it comes to packaged or prepared foods, many of them contain junk disguised as healthier choices. Take applesauce for example.

You can core some apples, remove the peel and chop it up in your food processor to make healthy snacks for children. You could even add a small amount of brown sugar or cinnamon. That would be sweet enough to satisfy any child’s sweet tooth.

The average packaged fruit cups and applesauce contain more sugar than anything else. Check the label for high fructose corn syrup. That’s a particularly bad choice.

You also have to check the label for artificial colors, additives and preservatives. There is reason to believe consuming those artificial ingredients increases a child’s risk of ADHD according to scientists.

Drinks And More Snacks

smoothies are nutritious snacks for kids Watching what your kids drink is just as important as watching what they eat. If you buy prepared juices (homemade are healthier), choose those that are 100% real juice with no added sugars, colors or artificial preservatives.

Bananas are healthy snacks for children. Even the pickiest kid will eat bananas. You will find that they love melon balls and seedless grapes, too. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries are all delicious and nutritious.

Carrot, cucumber, squash, zucchini and celery sticks are fun to eat and colorful. If the kids need something to do, you can let them create faces or other works of art on paper plates using their snack foods.

Choosing healthy snacks for children is important. It will help them get started in the right direction. They won’t have to change their eating habits as they age.
