The Hypertension Diet: Diet To Lower Blood Pressure
Dietary Approach To Stop Hypertension
What is hypertension and what is the hypertension diet? Hypertension is when a person has high blood pressure. The current standard is 110/70. Previously the standard was 120/80.
Some of the symptoms of hypertension can be feeling anxious, nervous, edgy, agitated, fatigued, and having a racing heartbeat. Even panic attacks can be induced in the hypertensive individual. Diet has a great deal to do with the rise in blood pressure as well as these feelings and emotions.
Salty and Fatty Foods Elevate Blood Pressure
The best all around hypertension diet is eating whole foods. Whole foods such as brown rice and whole grains heal the person with hypertension. And don’t forget to eat all the fresh, organic fruits and vegetables that you like, preferably five servings a day.
Foods that produce hypertension in people are salty, fatty foods. That would be all potato chips, soda, crackers, and deep fried foods like french fries. Also additives in packaged foods like monosodium glutamate, dyes, sugars, hydrogenated oils, and preservatives will create illness overtime.
No one is immune to becoming sick with disease if they eat impure foods on a consistent basis. If it has added salt and fat, additives and manmade sugars, stay away from it. Go for the pure food instead and add your own sea salt.
Hint: Real sea salt has a pinkish or grayish tinge to it. You can buy it at any health food store.
Cocoa Is Good For Your Health
The best option for the hypertensive individual is to not have any foods that would make them feel hypertensive in the first place.
Nasty culprits to elimnate form the diet in the hypertensive person are caffeine laden cola drinks, coffee, alcohol, candy bars, (not pure cocoa) and all manmade sugars.
If you love chocolate like most of us do, have a cup of cocoa with bees honey. Make homemade brownies using cocoa and the herb Stevia? Make some no bake energy bars.
Cocoa, which is a whole food in powder form, is good for your health! It is packed with magnesium and other minerals and vitamins. Cocoa has been labeled more powerful of an antioxidant than teas and red wine.
A bar of chocolate is high in saturated fats. A 40g bar of chocolate contains about 8g of saturated fat. This compares with 0.3g in an average cup of hot cocoa. Don’t get confused.
When people say that chocolate is good for you, find out what they mean? Do they mean the whole cocoa bean or are they referring to Snickers and M & M’s? Chocolate is NOT good for you.
Refined Carbohydrates Are Bad For Hypertension Diet
The hypertension diet should not have any refined flour products such as bread, crackers, biscuits, rolls, pancakes, tortillas, pasta, bagels, pizza crust, and all baked goods, whether they come in a package or not.
Refined carbohydrates are bad for any diet, not just the hypertensive one. Just because you make your own pancakes at home from white enriched flour does not make it good for you. If you want pancakes, make your own using whole wheat. If you want pizza crust, make your own using whole wheat.
Blood Pressure Lowered by Diet
In April of 1977, the New England Journal of Medicine reported the results of a landmark study. The study found that blood pressure can be lowered as much by diet, as by drugs, without side affects or risk!
The hypertension diet is rich in fruits and vegetables, and low fat dairy products. FACT: Raw milk is far better for you than pasteurized. Raw goat’s milk is even better for you than raw cow’s milk.
The herb Hawthorn Berry Extract also lowers blood pressure. You can treat hypertension and high blood pressure on your own. You can be in control of your health. Take control today!
