Chronic Jock Itch / Groin Rash: Natural Food Remedies

Jock Itch Remedies

Jock itch is a fungus/yeast that can be found on the body in areas that are prone to getting damp and sweaty like the feet and the groin area. It can often be difficult to get rid of.

It is usually referred to as an athlete’s condition. Athletes are more apt to get this condition because of excessive perspiration during workouts and sports games.

Can Eating Healthy Prevent Jock Itch?

Can eating a good diet prevent fungus infection? Well, that depends. No matter how well a person eats, if they are around the conditions that breed fungal infection, they will get it. Even women can get athletes foot.

In women, this same condition would be a yeast infection. Along with athletes foot, these can cause intense itching and scratching. This can turn into a secondary infection if a person is not healthy to begin with.

Eating right is always the best thing to do. Drink lots of filtered water. Also, receive plenty of rest and exercise daily so skin infections heal quicker. Repeated fungal infection is a sign that your immune system is not functioning at its optimal levels.

Eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes and dried beans is recommended in diets of those who get repeated yeast and fungal infections.

Herbal Medications To Treat Jock Itch

Aloe Vera is especially good for this condition. Slice off a piece of the aloe plant. Then tape it to the infected area to fight off toxins and soothe the skin.

You can also blend some of the Aloe Vera plant with a little bit of olive oil to make a paste. Apply it directly onto the fungus. Aloe Vera works as an antibiotic and will sooth any irritation caused by itching and scratching.

Black Walnut is great used as an anti-fungal and it fights off toxins as well. Black Walnut comes as an extract or ointment. You can also make a wonderful anti-fungal paste using the following ingredients:

  • ½ tablespoon sage
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne
  • olive oil
Mix all of these with enough olive oil to make a paste. Apply this paste to the fungus and cover it with a clean cotton cloth.

Another remedy you can try is with castor oil. Rub it all over where the fungus is. It will smother the fungus and expel the toxins. You should rub the castor oil on the fungal infection several times a day.

Vitamins and Comfrey For Jock Itch

Vitamin E is excellent for the skin. Place a few drops of the liquid oil right onto the affected area and rub it in. Do this several times a day to aid in the healing process.

You can also take some wheat germ. Puncture a vitamin E pearl. Mix them together, and apply directly to the fungal infection as a paste. Cover with a clean cotton cloth.

Orally you can take 1 to 2 pearls of Vitamin E twice a day. Besides taking Vitamin E, comfrey ointment is a commercially prepared remedy that you can be used to help rid yourself of fungal and yeast infections.

Comfrey ointment is available at most health food stores. You can also buy it online.
