Middle Eastern Food

I became a diabetic a few years ago and my doctor suggested I eat a healthy Middle Eastern Diet. I was skeptical at first not knowing much about it.
I now eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. My fats are limited to olive oil, and I eat a lot of whole wheat breads and lean meats such as chicken.
This diet is satisfying and has brought my blood sugar under control.
I found many recipes on the internet that use simple and healthy ingredients. These types of foods are high in flavor and easy to prepare. I eat 5 to 6 small meals a day and am never hungry.
I feed my whole family this way and they love it. I feel this is a very healthy way to eat and would recommend it to anyone.
Some of my favorites are hummus with cucumber and red onion in a whole wheat pita. I also love bulgar wheat salad with fruit, scallions and a little olive oil. Try it, you will love it. And it's good for you too!
