There’s a lot more nutrition food values in natural whole foods than in processed foods. During processing, food becomes denatured and loses much of its valuable nutrients.
Example: The wheat berry is stripped entirely of its bran, endosperm, and germ to make what is known today as “enriched” white flour. There’s no nutritional value in white flour.
Canned Foods vs. Fresh
Canned foods are always over processed and taste awful. Through the canning process the food loses almost all of its nutrition food values, especially vitamins A and C. What’s left are some mushy foodstuffs that taste like tin can. Ugh!
Additionally, any minerals that the food may have left after being processed is leached away into the liquid. This usually gets drained down the kitchen sink by the cook. After all nutrition is taken away, they then attempt to add something back to make the food taste good, such as sodium, monosodium glutamate, saturated fats, and/or sugars.
Concentrated Juice vs. Fresh Juice
Most of us think that store bought juice is healthy. However, most store bought bottled juices have been pasteurized as well. They aren’t raw or fresh. Giving small children juices when they are little promotes tooth decay and ruins their appetite for real food.
If you buy ready-made juices, be sure there is no added sugar or colorings, especially if you are giving them to children. For children, concentrated juices should be diluted with water. Many juices are acidic and can damage the teeth as well as the stomach.
Juicing your own fresh fruits and vegetables at home can really pack the nutrition food values in. In most cases, a glass of fresh apple and carrot juice provides the body with almost all of its recommended daily values of nutrients.
Will Enriching The Food Add Nutritional Value
Advertisements can be deceiving. Just because something says it is enriched with certain vitamins doesn’t make it healthy. Only real food in its natural form is truly healthy.
The nutrients they add to denatured foods may add a little bit of value, but the food in its purest form is what keeps the body healthy. The body cannot sustain itself on processed denatured foods for very long.
What do you think eating all of this denatured food is going to do to your health? It certainly is keeping the dentists, doctors, and drug manufacturers busy. They strip away the natural goodness of a food and then add nutrients to enrich it? That doesn’t make any sense.
They add vitamin D to cooked milk. They add nutrients to white flour so they can call it “enriched”! They add calcium and Vitamin C to pasteurized and concentrated orange juice. Obviously this concept isn’t working too well. People are getting fatter and sicker.
If you want to truly get healthy and stay healthy, don’t eat processed foods. Don’t believe what it states on the package of foods.
Example: “Pure Sugar” refined white sugar is far from being pure. In fact, it works like a drug in the body, causing all kinds of health ailments.
Become health-wise today and become involved with healthy eating! You’ll be glad you did.
