Why Are Trans Fats Bad?

What are trans fats? Trans fats is a term used for fats that are found in processed food items. All cooked oils are considered to be trans fats and bad for your health.



Trans fats also includes animal fats from meat and dairy products. They are mostly found in cooked foods and are hydrogenated (heated at a high temperature) to make the oil more solid, hence margarines and shortenings.

Why Are Trans fats Bad For Your Health?

All fats contain fatty acids, which come from saturated or unsaturated fats. The good fatty acids that the body needs come from raw oils. A high intake of saturated fats and trans fats in the diet can lead to clogged arteries, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and heart disease or stroke.

Small amounts of trans fats and saturated fats are found in meat and dairy products. Most of them are invisible to the naked eye. Foods like pie crusts, pizza dough, biscuits, cookies, donuts, cookies, crackers, chips, margarines and shortenings are loaded with trans fats.

If you want to be healthy, you need to stay away from processed foods where hidden fats lurk. Eat fatty meats and dairy in moderation or less. A prudent diet is needed here to protect yourself against coronary disease.

Deep fried foods are one of the unhealthiest foods you can eat. You would be better off eating sticks of real butter and beef fat than eating something that has been deep-fried.
